LEGENDS OF ROCK’N’ROLL & DOO WOP starring JACK SCOTT (“Burning Bridges, “What In The World’s Come Over You”, “My True Love”, “Goodbye Baby”), California R&B and doo-wop pioneers THE VIBRATIONS (“My Girl Sloopy”, “The Watusi”), who also enjoyed hits as THE JAYHAWKS (“Stranded In The Jungle”) and THE MARATHONS (“Peanut Butter”) and special guest star GERRY GRANAHAN (“No Chemise, Please”), of the ORIGINAL FIREFLIES (“You Were Mine”) and DICKY DOO & THE DON’TS (“Click Clack”).
Going back to the days when rock’n’roll was young and music was fun, the Park Theater’s successful series spotlighting rock’n’roll’s first generation continues with LEGENDS OF ROCK’N’ROLL & DOO WOP, starring three pioneering acts from the 1950s and early 1960s live on stage in a two and a-half hour concert. Rockabilly and rock’n’roll singer-songwriter-guitarist Jack Scott and his band from Detroit, Michigan headline the event. A 2011 Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee, Jack Scott has enjoyed 19 nationally-charted Hot 100 hits since 1958. With original lead singer Carl Fisher still leading the group he founded in 1955, the first East Coast appearance of the Vibrations in more than 40 years is a collector’s dream. Starting with the original hit version of “Stranded In The Jungle” in 1956 under the name the Jayhawks, this Los Angeles act scored a national hit with “Peanut Butter” under the name the Marathons in 1961 and rocked through the 1960s with best sellers including “The Watusi”, “So Blue”, and the original “My Girl Sloopy”.
A Coast To Coast Entertainment production with hosts Todd Baptista & WATD’s Bill Clark and Jack Colombo’s Coast To Coast Band.
